◼ About Václav

Vaclav is a voice library originating from the HIS-VOICE (also known as HIS) announcement software developed throughout 1993 to 1999. HIS was first installed throughout Prague's train stations to automate announcements in foreign languages, such as German and English. Václav's library was later recorded after the testing stages of the software to fully automate Czech announcements. Due to the outdated qualities of the HIS-VOICE software, Vaclav has been pulled back from many places today, however he can still be heard across the Czech Republic, mainly at smaller stations. HIS-VOICE originally ran on Microsoft's MS-DOS, but was later moved to some kind of older version of Linux. Vaclav (fan-made character) is in no way officially affiliated with mikroVOX, Czech railways or Vaclav Knop. Václav (UTAU) is a personification of Knop's voice. His UTAU library was made as an experiment to reverse-engineer his original recordings and restore them for the UTAU program and for software preservation.
